A lifelong journey…
Karen Quinn began her yoga journey, like many, as a way to heal from loss and life’s difficulties. In yoga she found an opportunity to blend a lifelong interest in the modern understanding of anatomy and physiology with the wisdom that has been amassed throughout the ages.
Her yoga training includes certification with the Yoga Alliance at the RYT-500 level and E-RYT-200 levels. She is a member of the International Association of Yoga Therapists. She studied yoga therapy with Rocky Mountain Institute of Yoga and Ayurveda. Additionally, she has studied with Nischela Joy Devi and is a certified Yoga of the Heart teacher.
Her ayurvedic training includes a Diploma in Ayurvedic Study through the Mount Madonna Institute in Watsonville, CA.
In 2005, she became director of the teacher training program at Rishi’s Community Yoga in Denver, CO and is on staff at Progressive Health Center, an alternative health care center located on PS/L Hospital campus in Denver, CO. Additionally, Karen is the Director of Training for Yoga Center of Carmel in Carmel, CA.
Karen has a warm and compassionate personality and is adept at communicating with her students in a way that makes her lessons easy to assimilate. She creates a comfortable atmosphere that encourages questions, self-exploration and laughter! Karen’s many life experiences allow her to understand the challenges each student faces and work with them towards overcoming obstacles.
Karen has broad experience in the business world. She owned and operated an aerial photography company with her late husband, Peter Peelgrane. She was Executive Director for Leadership Denver Association for many years. In 1995, she began a speaking career, sharing with large groups, both nationally and internationally, ideas and experiences about living with disabilities and easing the transition in dying. She was a public member of the Colorado Medical Examiners Board for 6 years and served on the Craig Rehabilitation Hospital Board of Directors for 6 years.
